On-the-job training is a recognized, auditable method under the AS-family standards, distinct from classroom or e-learning delivery. Where internal staff deliver it, auditors expect records showing the trainer was themselves competent to teach it, not just familiar with the subject.

Why the UK aerospace skills shortage makes training records a compliance risk 

The 2026 ADS Industry Facts and Figures show 29,000 apprentices across the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors, supporting 468,500 direct jobs after 39 percent employment growth over ten years.
