I’ve spent enough years moving between EHS platforms and quality platforms to know they don’t usually get built by the same people or judged by the same analysts. That’s always struck me as a little strange, because out on the floor of a manufacturing plant or a hospital, nobody experiences EHS and quality as separate problems. A defect that slips through is often a safety issue with a delay on it. A near-miss report and a corrective action are, more often than not, describing the same underlying failure from two different angles.

So, when Verdantix released its Green Quadrant: Quality Management Software (2025) and its Green Quadrant: EHS Software (2026) within nine months of each other, the result was worth stopping to celebrate. Ideagen was positioned as a Leader in quality management. In EHS software, a much bigger field of 23 EHS software vendors assessed, Ideagen landed as a Leader too, continuing a run that started with a Specialist position back in 2023. In between came a third Leader position, in the Green Quadrant: Process Safety Management Software (2026). Three Green Quadrants, three Leader positions, in nine months. Ideagen remains the only vendor with Leader status in both the quality management and EHS reports.

Three cycles, one direction

It’s worth sitting with how fast this moved. In 2023 Green Quadrant for EHS Software, Ideagen sat in the Specialist quadrant, strong in specific areas but not yet broad enough to compete across the full range of what EHS buyers were evaluating. By the 2025 edition, Ideagen had climbed into Leaders – a pace of progression that stands out in a market where vendor positions often take years to shift. In the 2026 assessment, Verdantix found it had improved further still, while separate studies named Ideagen a Leader in quality management and process safety management as well.

Each time independent analysts have reassessed Ideagen's EHS platform, it has moved forward: Specialist in 2023, Leader in 2025, stronger again in 2026.

Where the strength actually sits

Strip away the quadrant position and the scores explain it. In the 2026 assessment, Verdantix calls out document management (2.7/3.0), quality management (2.6/3.0), safety management and incident management (both 2.3/3.0) as particular strengths, which is exactly the ground where EHS and quality overlap. Ideagen scored higher than any other vendor in quality management and document management. The document capability isn't a tick-box either: Ideagen is one of the few vendors in the assessment with a native document editing solution, with side-by-side redline comparison, multi-user collaboration and section-level permissions.

The safety side goes beyond software. Verdantix credits the R-Link wearable acquisition with bolstering Ideagen's lone worker offering, with a device on the worker and the data in the platform. It also scores Ideagen above average in occupational health, ergonomics and industrial hygiene.

The same foundations carry into process safety. In Verdantix's June 2026 assessment, Ideagen is one of seven Leaders among the 11 vendors evaluated. Verdantix describes the PSM capabilities as solid, drawing on Ideagen's EHSQ background and established strengths in incident management and management of change. Incident management scored 2.3/3.0 against a category average of 1.7, and Verdantix points to Mazlan's incident management agent.

The AI had to clear a higher bar this time. Verdantix's 2026 method credits only AI use cases that are commercially available and actively used by customers, and the AI integration category now assesses agentic workflows and interoperability with external agents. Ideagen again achieved the joint-highest score for AI integration (2.0/3.0), and Verdantix describes its AI capabilities as compelling, from retrieval-augmented generation against customer-specific knowledge bases to multimodal inputs, AI-generated SOPs and configurable risk pattern detection. Its summary for buyers:

Buyers prioritizing workplace safety, quality expertise and AI innovation will find Ideagen a compelling option.

None of this came from nowhere. A year earlier, the 2025 edition recorded the highest score of any vendor for document management and a joint-highest scores for AI integration and quality management, and described a vendor that, in its words:

Ideagen has undergone a metamorphosis in the last two years.

A strategy Verdantix is watching too

Capability scores tell you what a platform can do today. Momentum scores, which Verdantix builds from strategic success factors such as market vision, product strategy, customers and financial resilience, are the closest thing to a read on whether a vendor is headed somewhere on purpose. In 2026, customers (3.0/3.0) and product strategy (2.5/3.0) are among Ideagen's top-scoring momentum criteria.

That distinction matters more than it might sound. A vendor can post a strong capability score in a single cycle and still leave an analyst uncertain about where the platform goes next. A strong product strategy score is a different kind of signal: it says the roadmap holds together, and the people executing it know what they’re building toward. Pair that with a customer score that’s also standing out, and you get a read on something capability tables alone can’t show, whether the people actually using the platform day to day are staying, growing and getting what they were promised.

Strong capability scores are one story. An analyst independently flagging the strategy and the customer relationships behind them as strengths in their own right is a different, better one.

What this points to

For practitioners evaluating integrated EHS solutions, the pattern matters more than any single ranking: a platform built to hold EHS and quality together, with hardware alongside the software, has been a Leader in each of the last two Verdantix EHS assessments, and is now a Leader in quality management and process safety management too.

For investors and executives watching this category, that kind of climb, from Specialist to Leader and still improving, while separately earning Leader status in adjacent disciplines, tends to reflect sustained investment compounding over several cycles rather than a single strong launch.

In 2023, this platform was a Specialist in EHS. Today it is a Leader in EHS, quality management and process safety management, and the only vendor with Leader status in both EHS and quality management. The direction of travel is clear. What comes next is the part worth watching.
