The a2 Milk Company choose Ideagen Coruson as its global quality management system

13 March 2017

Coruson chosen due to its "ease of scalability" following period of rapid growth for the dairy company

The a2 Milk Company (a2MC), the international dairy nutritional company, is to roll out a cloud-based software solution from Ideagen as its global quality management system.

Ideagen Coruson, Ideagen’s Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) software solution, will be implemented across the company’s sites in Australia, America, China and the UK.

Coruson was chosen for its “ease of scalability” following an “unprecedented” period of growth, with a2MC expanding after recently becoming the number one premium milk provider in Australia with a rapidly growing infant formula business.

Dandan Chen, Head of Quality for the company, said: “The a2 Milk Company has recorded unprecedented growth levels since 2012 which has helped us become a strong market player in the dairy and infant formula categories in Australia, with rapid expansion into China, UK and more recently USA.

“Following that growth, it became clear that we had to modernise our quality management system with software that would not only help us improve on our quality processes, but also be able to grow alongside us. We are a company that is forever changing and Ideagen Coruson’s ease of scalability was particularly appealing. It suited our company growth strategy extremely well.”

The a2 Milk brand was launched after it was discovered that cows produce milk with different bet casein proteins, known as A1 and A2. The research went on to become a significant breakthrough for people struggling to digest conventional milk containing the A1 protein. Since then, the company has grown at a rapid rate and is one of the largest dairy nutrition brands in Australia, servicing its markets with full cream, light and skim milk products alongside the a2 Platinum infant formula range.

Ideagen Coruson will become the company’s global system for quality management, particularly helping staff focus on improving document management and document control.

Dandan added: “Replacing our previous manual system with Ideagen Coruson will future proof our business – it just wasn’t sustainable for us to continue as we were doing.

“For us, this is an exciting project with Ideagen and one that we believe will play a significant part in the future of the company.”

Coruson is used by some of the biggest companies in the world to manage governance, risk and compliance including incident reporting. In 2015, it was named by industry analyst GRC 20/20 as the most innovative product in its Environmental Health & Safety category.
