ALEXANDER Dennis Ltd, one of the UK’s leading bus and coach manufacturers, has introduced a standardised group-wide approach to improve the management of its suppliers.
The Scottish-based company launched its dedicated Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Database so that common methods were applied to their supply base in the notification and resolution of supplier-related quality issues.
With numerous sites based throughout the UK and abroad, each Alexander Dennis Ltd’s (ADL) site were managing their own supplier list, meaning visibility of data around supplier performance and quality was disconnected and difficult to assess.
Andy Gourlay, Business Systems Manager at Alexander Dennis Ltd, said: “Prior to introducing the dedicated SQA Database, each of our sites in the UK had its own system for supplier management, meaning there was different ways of working across the business.
We are now managing all of our suppliers in Q-Pulse and are actively logging and raising issues in the system, instead of one site working differently from another
