An aviation safety management specialist from software firm Ideagen will take part in a special discussion aimed at assessing safety performance in the industry.

Steven Cespedes, Ideagen’s Head of Aviation, will join a host of industry experts at the Flight Safety Symposium in London tomorrow in chairing a series of discussion panels with delegates.

The topics being covered include Airline Engineering and Maintenance Safety, Safety in Air Traffic Control and Commercial Flight Safety.

Mr Cespedes, who has an MSc in Aviation Safety and over 10 years’ experience in the industry, will concentrate on safety performance during his presentation at the event.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to attend this year’s Flight Safety Symposium event, and really looking forward presenting to like-minded individuals around the topic of improving aviation safety and, in particular, safety performance.

“The Flight Safety Symposium is the only aviation safety event that covers Commercial Safety, Airline Engineering and Maintenance Safety and Safety in Air Traffic Control and this year it is set to become the largest of its kind with over 300 attendees expected to attend.

“We look forward to meeting both potential and existing customers to exchange ideas and develop partnerships.”

The Flight Safety Symposium takes place at the Radisson Blu Edwardian conference centre near London’s Heathrow Airport between Tuesday, September 13th and Wednesday, September 14th.

The event attracted just over 200 aviation safety experts during its inaugural event last year, with this year’s event set to be even bigger. Topics for discussions range from safety management systems and ‘Just Cause’ to Safety II and regulatory issues.

As well as Ideagen’s Mr Cespedes, the event will also see discussion panels chaired by;

  • Per Ahl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Saab AB
  • Simon Bennett, Director of Civil Safety and Security at the University of Leicester
  • Barbara Clark, a Consultant from Gates Aviation
  • Gianluca del Pinto, Italian Air Traffic Controllers Association
  • Peter Dumont, President and CEO of ATCA
  • Yann Duval, Quality and Safety Director of Aigle Azur
  • Kai Goebel, from NASA’s Intelligent Systems Division

The Flight Safety Symposium is the only aviation safety event that covers commercial, AEMS and ATC which allows delegates to mix topics.

Ideagen is also part sponsoring the event, and will have a team present for the duration of the conference to speak with potential and existing customers.
