How did you end up at Ideagen and what is your role?
I started as an apprentice back in April 2011 with Plumtree Group (which ultimately ended up being acquired by Ideagen in late 2012). My apprenticeship was working within the Support Team and I ended up being the Team Leader within 18 months. I then moved into our Professional Services Department within Health Care at the start of 2013. In May 2016, I became the Team Lead of that department which led me into my current role which is Service Delivery Manager. As part of my current role I manage two teams. The first team is Technical Services Department for Health Care, this involves all of the client side configuration, deployment, interfacing etc. of our healthcare products. The second team is an Implementation Team which is responsible for the installation and upgrades of Ideagen software across the group.
What do you love the most about Ideagen?
If I had to single out one thing, it would be the people. I work with some of the most passionate people I’ve ever met. Everyone I’ve worked with no matter how big or small a project maybe, client satisfaction has always been the most important item on the agenda which often means going the extra mile and I've yet to find anyone that wouldn’t want to do this.
What is your favourite memory of your time at Ideagen?
When I was on site giving some training to a customer in a GP surgery. The lady was very sceptical about the changes and technology in general and wasn't sure how IdeagenOCM would make this easier for her. She was then asked to get some results for a patient which hadn’t appeared in their clinical system as normal. This would have normally meant a lengthy call with the pathology lab. Instead of having to go through the lengthy process, I was able to demonstrate how to lookup results directly within IdeagenOCM saving her a lot of time and she was very grateful. It's not just the obvious benefits (improved patient care) which have an impact.
What makes Ideagen different to anywhere you’ve worked before?
My apprenticeship was technically my first "corporate job". However, from talking to colleagues who have left other companies to join Ideagen, it appears to be a world of difference. Ideagen treat their staff with the utmost respect and believe in everything they do.
What career development have you experienced with Ideagen?
Quite a lot! I started as an apprentice just under 6 years ago and I now manage two successful teams. During this time Ideagen have believed in me and given support throughout. Over the past few years I've received several training courses which have allowed me to continue in my progression and I can't thank them enough.
What advice would you give someone thinking of applying to Ideagen?
If you want to work with some of the best people in the world, along with the best suite of products then Ideagen is for you. We’ve a relaxed atmosphere but we work hard and take pride in our work.
