IT Service Desk Engineer

£20,000 to £22,000

We have a rare opportunity to join our internal IT helpdesk team who are at the core of how we achieve all that we do. The team is dynamic, driven, ambitious and always finds time for a coffee and a chat!

You will work across all functions of IT infrastructure ensuring all inbound support issues are prioritised, investigated, managed and resolved with a rapid, professional response.

 Day to Day

  • Coordinate the onsite IT infrastructure and request, ensuring SLA’s are achieved.
  • Work with IT service desk staff, which includes, training, guidance and discipline
  • Develop and utilise processes/practices using ITIL framework
  • Assist with providing 1st line support to staff across all sites as well as home workers
  • Provide guidance for other members of the IT (Service desk team) to enable swift resolution of their tasks and calls while reporting progress regularly
  • Deliver basic IT systems training and maintain information resources such as the IT Portal
  • Give new staff inductions to equipment and software
  • Communicate and coordinate with other team members and other colleagues
  • Provide on-call and after-hours support as required.

 Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience working as part of an IT Service desk environment.
  • Knowledge of ITIL
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A keen interest in technology and a willingness to learn new skills
  • Inquisitive and curious about things and like to solve problems
  • A good ability to troubleshoot technical issues and multitask
  • Able to work as part of a geographically distributed and growing team but also able to work independently
  • An understanding of cyber security and associated best practices
  • Experience in providing on-call and after-hours support
  • Competent with Office 365 and Active Directory

 

Desirable

  • Proven ability to understand client/stakeholder needs and transform them into solutions that meet and exceed expectations
  • Proactive, upbeat and collaborative communication style, with the ability to be direct, tactful, and transparent.
  • Confident speaker in person and on the phone
